Here is a selection of recent consultancy briefs managed by A+O

IAG/NZI Insurance:

In 2009 IAG/NZI Insurance celebrated 150 years of business in New Zealand by moving into a major new Headquarters building designed by JASMAX in downtown Auckland. A+O provide a comprehensive suite of consultancy services including valuation of the existing collection over many locations. The major part of the consultancy brief was the organization of a competition to appoint an artist to create a site specific work for the foyer of the new building to be installed on the completion of construction.

The resultant work by competition winner sculptor Gregor Kregar is one of the most significant public artworks installed in Auckland in recent years. Entitled  Twisting the Void, Kregar's response is a magnificent suspended two part sculpture which now adorns the entrance to the striking building occupying one of the most prominent corner sites in the downtown CBD.

Auckland based Legal Partnership:

This longstanding mid-sized partnership sought to reflect their commitment to New Zealand creativity with a diverse collection of works which communicated the multicultural colour and energy across a variety of media.

The completed acquisition collection includes works by Sara Hughes, Darren George, and Martin Poppelwell chosen specifically for key locations in the office environment.

Auckland based Merchant Bank:

When this collection began this team was an emerging force and wished to extend their personal knowledge of NZ contemporary art and communicate their corporate ambitions as thoughtful and well researched in their approach.

The collection strategy was to select works that displayed a formal rigour combined with a deep understanding of the artistic or historic context that gave rise to works. The collection is ongoing and includes important works by Gordon Walters, Mark Adams, Michael Parekowhai, James Cousins, Martin Poppelwell and Fiona Pardington.

Auckland based private collector:

The move to an architecturally based new home was the spark for a fresh take on a contemporary collection with a brief to really push contrasts of scale and media.

The result is a diverse body of work including a commissioned work by Chris Charteris, a suite of works by Mark Adams and a striking work by Aboriginal artist Sally Gabori.

A Singapore based expat New Zealander:

This risk taking collector wanted to be reminded of the wealth of cutting edge contemporary art in New Zealand and Australia and dazzle visiting international guests. The brief was to build a collection of leading contemporary art for private exhibition.

Space constraints have caused a temporary hiatus but the collection will soon be re-initiated to complement works by Ricky Swallow, Andrew McLeod, Rohan Wealleans, Fiona Pardington, Lionel Bawden and Francis Upritchard.
