Important Paintings and Contemporary Art

Thursday 29th November 2018

6.30pm - 3 Abbey Street, Newton, Auckland

Consignments are now invited for our final art auction of 2018, up until Friday 2 November.

2018 has been another strong year for the New Zealand art market and for Art+Object. Earlier this year we held our first ever auction in Wellington when we offered the collection of notable Wellingtonians, Frank and Lyn Corner. The auction realised a sale total in excess of 2.5 million dollars with over 130% sold by value and %100 sold by volume. In June this year we offered the second installment of the legendary Paris collection which also resulted in turnover of 2 million dollars and included new record prices for Philip Clairmont, Tony Fomison and John Tole.

Early highlights for this auction include the consignment of a substantial private collection from a South Island collector. With a focus on major paintings by contemporary artists, the collection includes significant works by: Tony de Lautour, Bill Hammond, Michael Smither, Jeffrey Harris, Heather Straka and Andrew McLeod. Further early highlights include two paintings by A. Lois White and a major two-panel Stephen Bambury work.

Appraisal appointments in both Wellington and Christchurch are available in the months of September and October.
