ART+OBJECT's first Rare Books auction of 2018 will be held on Wednesday 18 April at 12:00pm noon. The sale follows on from a strong year of book auctions at Art+Object, with over $750 000 of rare books and manuscripts sold under the hammer in 2017.
The first sale of the year offers a wide range of rare and collectable books. It includes a large collection of natural history books, featuring a set of Joseph Dalton Hooker’s The Botany of the Antarctic Voyage of H.M. Discovery ships Erebus and Terror in the Years 1839-1843; books from the library of the late Dr Kenneth Fox; G.V. Hudson’s books on moths and butterflies as well as beetles, neuropteran and entomology; a rare and important archive of papers and letters relating to Janet Frame, 1948 – 1954; an archive of historic papers relating to Sir William Fox Premier of New Zealand, A.W. Haldane and the Manchester Block, and many more.
